Why we patch test

Hair colour contains ingredients that a small number of people can react to. A patch test lets us check your skin before your colour appointment, so your visit is safe and comfortable.

When you need one

• Before your first colour service with us
• If it's been a while (generally 6 months or more) since your last colour with us
• If you've ever reacted to hair colour before — please tell us

What happens

We apply a tiny amount of the colour product behind your ear or inside your elbow. It takes a couple of minutes, and we ask you to leave it on and watch for any redness, itching or swelling over the next 48 hours. If you notice any reaction, let us know and please don't proceed with the colour. Book your patch test at least 48 hours ahead of any colour appointment.
